My Favorite BBQ Joints

Having lived in Raleigh for over 15 years, I have gotten to know the area fairly well and if there is one thing I love, it is good BBQ. Since I can’t always make it myself, sometimes it is nice to try others.

I have compiled my favorite places (in no particular order) and was careful to select those that are local businesses rather than a chain. Not that some chain restaurants do not produce good barbecue, just if you are visiting Raleigh, and want to try something you can only get here, then these are the places you should check out.

Besides, if ou love Barbecue as much as I do, you are looking for a pilgrimage. And these places are worth it.

Brew n’ Que

This outfit has two locations. One in Apex and another in Cary. A bottle shop and BBQ joint rolled into one. They make some unique items for their menu, but what it comes down to is a dedication to meat smoked to perfection.

The Pit

It is hard to not add this local legend to our list. A little high end for what you would expect for a BBQ restaurant. They have been producing high quality food for years and continue to be on everyones list.

Smoke Souls (Food Truck)

Hey, just because it is on wheels, doesn’t mean it is any less quality. This guy makes an incredible brisket. You just have to find him on any given night. But if you are adventurous, you’ll find the effort worthwhile.
